Sponge by Nature - a sponge grown, not manufactured
Sponge by Nature was born from a simple question at the kitchen sink: How is it possible that cleaning my home means polluting the planet? The answer took us back to the source: a traditional plant fique grown with very little water and without any harsh chemicals, yet strong enough to clean without leaving a trace of plastic behind.
The sponge that cleans your sink… and pollutes everything else
-

- Made with petroleum-derived plastics.
- Releases microplastics every time you use it.
- Traps bacteria and bad odors.
- Ends up in landfills for centuries.
-
After - a sponge made by nature
- Made from 100% natural fique fiber.
- 100% biodegradable and compostable.
- Dries faster
- Returns to the earth as organic matter.
One day, while looking at a regular supermarket sponge, the question popped up: What’s the story behind this thing I use every single day?
The answer wasn’t pretty: plastic that lasts for centuries, microplastics ending up in our water, and a cleaning routine that silently pollutes the planet.
That’s when fique entered the story a plant native to South America, grown by rural communities who transformed conflict-marked lands into fields full of life. A strong, noble, natural fiber capable of cleaning your home without leaving plastic behind.
When you choose Sponge by Nature, you’re not just switching sponges you’re standing with families who traded illicit crops and violence for agriculture and dignity. You support a fairer rural economy. You turn everyday tasks washing dishes, showering, wiping down surfaces into small rituals of peace, intention, and respect for life.
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) – You’re not the only one who wonders this
How long does a Sponge by Nature sponge last?
Each sponge lasts about 8 to 10 days, depending on how often you use it and how well you take care of it.
To extend its lifetime, rinse it well after every use, squeeze out the excess water, and let it air-dry.
It’s important to avoid contact with hot surfaces or containers, as heat can make it wear out more quickly. Our packs include 3 sponges, giving you roughly a month of use—always fresh and hygienic.
Is it safe for my skin and my home?
Yes. It’s made from natural fique fiber and plant-based sap, with no harsh chemicals and no plastic resins.
It’s gentle enough for the skin and safe for surfaces like glass, ceramic, and stainless steel.
If you have very sensitive skin or any specific condition, try it on a small area first and stop using it if you notice any reaction.
What can I use it for?
You can use it as a body exfoliator, to wash dishes and glasses, clean pots and pans, and wipe down surfaces like sinks, faucets, tiles, and countertops.
One product for many daily tasks.
What do I do when it no longer works?
You can compost it and let it break down naturally.
Unlike synthetic sponges, it doesn’t turn into everlasting waste—it returns to the earth as organic matter.
Does the sponge release fibers?
With continuous use and near the end of its lifecycle, it’s normal for the sponge to release a few natural fique fibers. This happens as the plant-based sap which works as the natural binder begins to loosen organically.
This doesn’t affect its performance and is completely safe: these fibers are 100% biodegradable, unlike the microplastics released by synthetic sponges.
When you start noticing more fibers coming off, it’s simply a sign that it’s time to replace it with a fresh one.
